CHICAGO - A pedestrian listening to an "electronic device" was struck and critically injured by a Chicago fire truck on its way to an emergency call.

Fire department media affairs spokesman Richard Rosado says the man was listening to the device Sunday when he stepped into the truck's path.

He says the truck's lights and sirens were engaged. The unidentified man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

No one aboard the fire truck was injured.

Because of his lack of attention & ignorance he and/or his family will probably try to sue CFD for everything they can get. Sounds like Darwinism at work to me.
Will probably sue the "electronic device" maker as well. Maybe the band he was listening to, too.
is it me, or is it hard to find any sympathy for the guy? Well, I just hope the guys/gals on the rig will be ok. Damn that sucks!
You are all correct, hope all the people in the fire truck have the same story when interviewed.....no sympathy at all for the person struck....but rest assure everything and everyone will be sued....
Wish I could be the judge when they do. The plaintiffs would get an earful...
i wonder how many guys on that crew are emotionally traumatized i wish the best for everyone involved in the incident.
