Some depts. are have added ATVs into their fire and rescue operations for areas where some off road vehicles can't go. Some are rigged out for just fire use and others for rescue recovery operations or combination of both. I have heard on some brush calls in our area there are calls for ATVs when brush trucks are not enough. Now I have seen where some citizens have rigged out compact and farm tractors with three point hitch pods that carry water tanks with plows  mounted under the tank. Another addition is to have a front loader on the tractor to help with moving obstructions like fallen trees or moving ground.

I have wonder if fire depts. have used tractors in their operations?

Another thing is I have seen where plows, front loaders and blades can be mounted on ATVs

A article related to my post shows a tractor setup for firefighting operations.

I own an emergency vehicle upfitting business based out of NJ. I've sold quite a bit of emergency and off road lighting for ATV's and UTV's. There's quite a few departments around us utilizing atvs and utvs for search and rescue in wooded areas as well a brush fire attack vehicles. In my opinion, the demand for these vehicles will continue to grow due to their many uses.

A recent video I seen on Facebook. Lawn & Garden Tractor Magazine had a video of a older John Deere lawn tractor painted red, with a siren, flashing red lights a working front mounted pump and a platform mounted deck gun on the back. I guess a water supply  has to provided for the pump and a short hose to connect to the deck gun since there is no water tank mounted on the tractor. The person that owns it also has lawn tractors with front loaders and plows of the same model John Deere. Interesting idea where you could use the fire tractor.
