Firefighters were working a structure fire at an auto repair shop starting at 0630 this morning. At some point during the fire, with a captain on the ladder this happened:

The captain was transported by air to a Pittsburgh area hospital with his condition unkown. Will post more as it becomes known.

Thoughts and prayers to Aliquippa firefighters as they all recover from this.

Truck involved was a 1976 ALF quint

Thank god they are still with us stay strong guys god bless

Any news on what may have caused that Marc?

Was it just the Captain on the tip?

Definately lucky to only have a broken elbow from that. Could have been much worse, though surgury is never a good thing.

Hoping for a successful surgury and a speedy recovery!

Capt is out of surgery all went well from what i hear.

Good to hear!

It's up on the firefighter close calls website. It said the Captain was the only one on the stick and it had been inspected last year.

no idea on cause, and wont even venture a guess since I know all of these guys

Did the cause of the collapse get identified yet?

Not yet. Guessing it will be several months before they release anything. The captain is home and doing well from what I'm told, although his xray is rather impressive

Good to hear. I bet its one of those things that makes you go hm....
