I personally think it is fun to sit back, relax and enjoy the lighter side of life on FFN. I like to make new friends and enjoy welcoming new members feel good that they have joined a great site. I guess I'm the social side of FFN!

I'm currently going through FF1 training and do not have the experience or knowledge yet to offer input on the learning side of FFN. I love to lurk around and learn.

IMHO you cannot expect all 25,000 members to agree on every topic, however, we can respectfully voice our difference of opinions without resorting to insults and personal attacks!

We have a few seasoned firefighters who are always professional and offer their advice and share their knowledge.

I recently learned the valuable lesson of thinking before you type. The way you say something will not always be taken the way you meant! I do agree that we should not engage in inappropriate comments and behavior.

This site is a great resource and learning tool for exchanging experiences and ideas with other departments across the country...just contributing my 2 cents.

TCSS everyone,
Cat :o)

good post cat you hit the nail on the head
Nicely put !!
I have a few friends that i invited to this site and they really enjoyed the time here until.... The personal attacks began . To follow from one post to another and attack the spelling of words or the color of the hood they wear is not the way to go . I ...we have lost some good people because of a few sour people . Grow up we will all disagree sometime or another get over it.
I don't necessarily agree with your statement on input and learning. I understand what you are saying, but I also believe everyone can teach and help others learn. I'll tell you the same thing I tell any class of cadets. I learn something every time I teach because someone usually asks a question that makes me take pause to come up with an answer, something that maybe I haven't thought about in a long time. At the same time, theres nothing wrong with lurking, it shows that you are using your ears as well.
I agree 100% says the lurker in the corner
Wonderfully put!
I cant be around all that much seems I have missed something, But you are right this can be a great tool for learning our just getting something off your chest we should all be grown ups here and there is no reason for personal attacks ..thats just plain childish... my 2cents!
If you have posts that personally attack another user or you, please report the link to me.

Thanks
I try very hard not to step on toes .. we all believe in different things, and do things the way we think is right.. when we all done and said.. we are fireman a special breed.. Wwe go in cold and we come out hot.. we all have seen things that well only we can see and deal with.. So are all in all are a family
Wow,ON the nail.I learned something many years ago.If you look at a situation as a 50/50,meaning any communication is 50 % what you say and 50% what they hear. You don't always know how you say something to someone and how it sounds. Also , could be the way they take it.I use this at home and work.It may be the way you say it or the tone you use.We are human. We do forget this. Thanks to all and God Bless.Be safe.
Nicely put.
nicely put i have not had anybody do that to me but i hope they dont
