Introducing FFN Points

Just as we approach 25,000 members, Firefighter Nation (http://www.firefighternation.com) is proud to announce we're formally launching a new feature called FFN Points, which allows you to earn points for participating on FFN. What do the points get ya? For right now, just our love and respect :) But stay tuned for some exciting stuff around points.

Your points will ONLY update when you view your profile page. You can earn the most points by posting and inviting -- real content earns more points! For instance, blogs, forums and group participation are worth the most, along with invites. So start using the INVITE tab today to get more fire, rescue & EMS industry professionals to join Firefighter Nation.

Having the most friends and comments will NOT get you to the top of the Leaderboard. We will be monitoring point levels over the coming weeks, and adjusting your totals while we beta test to ensure all is fair.

You can check out your current point totals by visiting your profile, it is right below your profile photo. Mouseover the cup icon for the basics of the system and click your point total to see where your points are coming from.

and . Please note that all stats are retroactive except Invites (unfortunately), so those start from now and may be adjusted as we go.

Keep participating! We'll be rolling out even MORE great new features in the coming weeks.

I think it is pretty awesome it lets people know who is on alot and contributes to this great site. Keep up the great work Chief.

Here's a rundown of the current points rankings,

- All users are 'FFN Responder' when they join
- 1,000 Points - FFN Pro
- 2,500 Points - FFN Veteran
- 5,000 Points - FFN Salty Dog
- 7,500 Points - FFN 3-Alarmer
- 10,000 Points -- FFN 5-Alarmer
- 15,000 Points - FFN Legend
- 20,000 Points - FFN Guru
- 30,000 Points - FFN Rocker
- 40,000 Points - FFN Superstar

And yes, as people exceed 40,000 points we'll add even MORE super duper rankings! I'm just out of names for the moment :)

You can browse top members at http://www.firefighternation.com/go?/rankings_leaderboard ... but keep in mind it will take a few days for this to fully update as points do not update until the user visits their profile (or another member does)

INVITE PEOPLE!

Start inviting EVERY firefighter you know if you haven't already. It counts for great points when you invite each individual new person! Sorry its not retroactive, but ... if you're an active member you'll get credit for other things as we go!

Is there a way to do an training class on this site that we view and get points for the contact hours ( and if a hand-on portion if we take photos of the training and post them we get extra points). What do you think ?

As if firefighters weren't competitive enough... now you have to add a point system? Just having fun here... the concept makes what you are doing even more fun than it already was. The FFN site is one of the coolest things that has come out of the internet world for the fire service. Thanks again for putting together such a wonderful forum for firefighters all over the world to share and network with. It's like the Olympics, year round!

Is there a list of what different things are worth? Like a reply to a forum worth so many points and inviting people worth this many. Just an idea so we know how many points we can get for different things.
