Event Description

It is with the deepest regret, that the Hudson Valley HellCats announce the passing of Past Chief of the Wallkill Fire Department Joe Kelly. Chief Kelly is the Father-in-law to President and Chief of the Hudson Valley HellCats, Joe LoCicero, a Luietenant in the City of Newburgh Fire Department. Chief Kelly was a volunteer firefighter in the Wallkill Hook Ladder & Hose Co. for more than 40 years, holding many line officer positions including Chief of the Department, Company President and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. At the next level of firematic service, he served as President of the Ulster County Volunteer Fireman's Assn., then President of the Hudson Valley Volunteer's Fireman's Assn., and currently First Vice President of the N.Y.S. Fireman's Assn. Joe enlisted in the Army (69-71) including one year in Vietnam as Combat Medic in the First Air Calvary Division, serving as an infantry medic in the legendary Seventh Calvary Regiment "Custer's Own". He was decorated for valor during his tour, evacuating and treating wounded, often under fire. Joe was a member Most Precious Blood Parish and served as Councilman for the Town of Shawangunk as well as serving in the Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps for 28 years.

Arrangements are as follows:

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 15, from 2-4 and Firematic services at 7-9 p.m., at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden NY. A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 16, at 10 a.m., at Church of the Most Precious Blood. Burial will be in St. Charles' Cemetery, Gardiner.



In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fireman's Home, 125 Howard Ave., Hudson, NY 12534-1600 (518-828-7695).
