I have not seen this on here so lets try a new discussion. I started late in the field but if I could , I would love to be in the Denver area . Maybe Westminster or Thornton fire depatments would be good since I grew up there . I knew allot of the Westminster f.f. 's while I was young as a friends dad was on the dept . They always had a great dept. Where would you be and why?
Well if I could go to work right now anywhere in the US, of course it would be a toss up between FDNY or Chicago. I live in North Carolina and am currently in the process for Cahrlotte FD, which is like a mini Chicago or FDNY in North Carloina. Charlotte runs out of 41 houses with the 42nd opeing this year and has a GREAT retirement plan. 20 years at 72% if I am correct.
Ok, I see all the fellow firefighers from the USA who are posting where they'd love to be in the States...Where are all my fellow firefighting brothers and sisters at? Ray if you don't mind me posing this question to them, Where in Canada would you guys or girls love to join up and why?
For me I would like to stay in Alberta and possibly join the Edmonton Fire Rescue Service or maybe go up to Ft.McMurray. Outside of Alberta, possibly the Toronto Fire Service (Ontario) or St. John's Regional Fire Department (Newfoundland, and that's where i grew up). So i got the ball rolling guys, let's hear what the rest of you have to say!
I like being a volly where I'm at now in my home town. I don't plan on leaving anytime soon but if I could be a full time some I'd like to either go to Chicago or Detroit. I know things are really rough in Detroit but reading about them and the amount of calls they run just blows my mind. I have a ton of respect for the guys/gals up there.
miami dade fire rescue. I meet some of their guys once and seemed like a great group, plus the sites down there and the beaches.. Who wouldn't want to work there.
I would have to say right where I am. I've been here for 15yrs and have many great memories i wouldn't trade for anything, but i think my dream job would be either in FDNY or Chicago.
