The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

Ralph - Laundry and ironing sounds like fun. Hopefully tonight won't be too bad.

Just missed out on the biblical flooding here, thank God, still got quite a bit of rain though. I'll be sure to drink one for you guys and girls tonight that got hit hard ;)

Hi all. Sorry about the flooding and hey I'm done for the day well I got done at 11:45 but whatever.

So what are we all up to?

Ralph, that was a good part of what we were doing last night. Our job is to be helpful, compassionate, and be the strength the victims need to move ahead. Falling apart on scene is a no-no!! Remove yourself if you cannot remain composed; don't add to the burden these victims are already bearing!

Thanks Ralph ... was a really hard time for some of these folks. You don't want them to lose their compassion, but they are going to have to learn how to cope. That was the exercise last night; first, let them get it out of their system; and then teach them coping mechanisms. All in all, this crew did an incredible job of responding to the 27 displaced people and getting them what they needed. Proud of them!!

Chief ... that looks REALLY familiar!! Thanks!! Now, I have broken out in a cold sweat, my skin is itching, and all I can think of is the smell of bleach!

Prayers for all of you up there as we know what this type of weather can bring. Be safe and wear those damn PFDs at all times! Watched a couple of our Nashville FFs not wearing theirs get caught in a flash flood - retaining wall caved. The rescuers had to be rescued.
