Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I have a desire to serve, and I've always gotten a thrill out of helping people. I'm currently active duty Air Force and I ride pretty actively at a volley house. When I get out, I'm entering the DCFD, BCFD, or the FDNY. I really feel like I've found my niche in life.

You seem to be ahead of the curve. Just your being in the Military shows your sense of commitment. I thank you for serving our country and keeping us safe. It does not matter what you are doing in the Military as you mentioned. Sorry you feel suckered into your current position there. Now to some advice. Baltimore requires all now hired to be ALS, Advanced Life, Support qualified. They will send you through classes for this, but if I truly wanted to be hired I would get this now on your own. Be sure to take the national registry so your ALS is good throughout the Country. This ALS, with your Military and fire experience would put you on the top of my list. You will have to take an entrance exam for all the above to come into play. When you are ready to take this step, contact me and I will help get you the application. We are still an aggressive Department. You may have seen some videos on You-Tube to confirm this. I have been with Baltimore City for 18 years now and it truly is the greatest job on earth. Hope this helps and come home SAFE!!! LT. Mike, BCFD E45

if I remember right, the conversation focused on folks putting crap on their structure helmets. I didn't actually have a photo of the guy who had plastic lettering melt and burn his neck to I improvised, looking for a photo of someone with burns on the neck to illustrate the point. It worked, you wrote me... The truth of the matter though was that this guy had radiation burns. I think it was exposure to either alpha or beta radiation burns. But it did get the point across... Stay safe my friend, Mike
