Staci, Sorry it's taken forever to get back to you. Been going through some problems with grand mals. Oh Joy! Some of the "good ole boys club" fought it, but when they figured out I wasn't going anywhere, and how good I am at my job, they kinda just backed off. Course my nickname with some of them is still "that bitch captain". Never said when I'm around, or my husband, he's the Chief. He slept his way to the top. I was already a Capt before he became Chief. So just keep doing what you're doing and in the end, they'll respect you for it. Unfortunately, this is still mainly a "mans job". BS. Funny how I'm always the first one in on confined spaces. Best of luck to you, & just keep at it. I've been doing this for 22 years, so what's that tell you?
