My Training:: As an explorer I am trained like all the other firefighters and EMTs except I have to pay and I cant go above 6 ft which kind of sucks but rules are rules. They even let me handle hose lines on structure fires and they let me go into training burns.

About Me:: I am a 16 year old, I am still in high school. I have a few great friends who are also Explorers. When Im not going to calls or at the department I like to play Madden football and hang out with my friends. When Im with my friends we talkk about recent fires and accidents in the area. If im not with them I like to hang out with the older firefighters and listen to there stories about fires and things they've seen.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS: My dad and grandpa were firefighters and it looked fun so I joined Explorers in 2006. Another reason was because of 9/11 I was only in 3rd grade at the time but i remeber it vividly. The fire ball that exploded after the first plane hit then the way the announcers said "Oh my god." Thats what really drove me to pursue this career, the feeling that I got when I saw helpless people dying and knowing I couldn't help. I knew the next day that this is what I wanted to do I will help people for a living even if it means putting my life on the line.
