Years in Fire/EMS:
My family started with I was 2mos old. I'm over 65 now! Active in the '60s, and now in Defensible Space education and Brush Trucks.
Firefighter 1 - University of Maryland
EMT - University of Maryland
About Me:
Just an old guy whose family started in the fire service when I was 2 weeks old, and I just can't seem to get it out of my system. Now retired, but not tired, we are into several organizations that are Fire related: www.BrushFireDefense.com, www.SDPPhotos.com (we used to provide EID services for three FDs), and www.ACTS1R.org (helping to train people in a new assistance service for 1st Responders). My wife was an EMT/EMT Trainer (CA & ID(. So yes, we may be "over the hill" and on the downward side picking up the pace, but we are still supporting America's Fire, Rescue & Law Enforcement agencies throughout the United States. Oh, by the way... Yes, we drive an old folks car (1988 Lincoln Town Car) but people love our other vehicle - 1988 Ford/Horton Ambulance! We like Ford Products & older vehicles and just couldn't resist this unit that we resurrected from destruction!
I love to help people. Not into the Rah Rah aspect of Firefighting, but in trench type of service... and, to finding better ways to help people in need.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I get to help people in need
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Safety, Training, & Communication that works - we don't need radio systems that have a 1 or more second lag time in transmissions. Life can be gone in 1 second!
