we work 24 on 24 off for seven shifts, then we furlough on our 8th shift, so it's three days off. pohakuloa has a different schedule than us. I know they work 48hour shifts, but I don't know their days off. we do get paid more than the county but we work a few shifts more a month than them. they get 4 consecutive days off. where do you live? you work for a volunteer dept? didn't know they had volunteer in hawaii? let me know if you have any more questions...aloha
Sup bro...i'm with fed fire on oahu...fed fire in hawaii hires out of the Honolulu Community College's fire science program, there's no test, you either get hired out of the college or have prior military service. Let me know if you need more info, i'll try to help you out as much as I can...aloha

My advice? Swim a LOT and join the HPP volunteer company 18 Alpha. Its not much but its a start. The swim is the toughest part of the physical agility test, at least it was for me.
Eh howzit Josh, I work @ PTA Fire Dept. Just started a few months ago, used to work Oahu, Schofield Barracks. Now I'm back living in Hilo, Kaiwiki Rd. What Sta u?
Josh, welcome to the Nation. I am glad you dropped in to join the group. Dont be shy just jump in anywhere and get your feet wet. There is lots to do, read and be involved with. Your participation and involvement is important to us all. Takes a bit to kinda figure it all out but you will be glad you did. Have fun and look around.
