Firefighter Flash Hoods
I have not been in the fire service long, but in the short time, I have come to hear lots of opinions on the use of flash hoods/ which ones people prefer. So whats the general consensus? Hood/No Hood, and what hoods do you like if you use one?

Do you have a particular hood/brand you like better than others? I use my issued one, but a lot of the firefighters I work with prefer other types.

It depends on what works for you - try a few different ones on and see what feels good. I bought a PBI one that was longer than the short, Nomex issued one from my department. I'm much less likely to accidentally pull it out, I think it protects better from the heat and it flexes much better. Ask around your department and see what other people are using and why. If something appeals to you, ask if you could try it on and see how it fits and feels. Hoods tend to be a way to express your personality also - you can find some pretty cool designs out there.
