Pumper-Ladders Equipment Standards?
Hello All,
So just looking to see how many of you out there run Pumper-Ladders. The department I am currently on has one and Me being a Truckie at heart have enjoyed my time working with this truck, it seems that it is missing alot of equiptment as far as truck compny tools. Does anyone know where one could potentially find a list of what should be on a Truck company that can operate as either a first due pumper or even a first due truck company depending on the call. Or is there even a standard for this.

NFPA Standards, or the ISO equipment list. By the way the proper name for that vehicle is a Quint.

Don it all depends on what side of the country you are on XD our county calls them all pumper-ladders. kinda like the whole tender tanker debate.

Not sure Zach, but I do believe that the term "quint" is universal among mfgs.
When it comes to equipment, well, that depends upon the dept. What kind of equipment are you looking more at that you don't currently see? There should be a basic contingent of ground ladders and contingent of hoses, but that tends (in my experience) to be the limitations. Anything more you want on becomes a customer spec.
We don't utilize quints, our trucks do not have pumps. We have two platforms and a straight stick, all have pre-piped waterways, all carry jaws, all have a cascade, they all have an assortment of hand tools, tarps, fans, air bags, and cribbing. So not sure what else you may want to see here.

Looking at the ISO rating equiptment list I dont see anything near what would need to be on a quint let alone a truck company or engine company, But just looking to see what peoples thoughts were on what should be on this type of apparatus, when i first showed up to this department the truck carried a full assortment of Rescue equiptment as it was set up as a truck company more then an engine, It seems now that the powers that be have pulled all of the rescue equiptment off the truck and made it basically an engine with an areial waterway. Just confusing I guess.

Quint is a standard fire service term used to describe an Aerial apparatus with a complement of ground ladders, pump, hose bed, and water tank. Your locality may have a different name but I doubt you would find pumper-ladder listed in ISO, NFPA, or NIMS.

Where i live and work larger fire departments send truck company's to all MVCs,
