Chester fireground video provides a good size-up drill
A reported fire at 2330 hours – What would be your initial assignment and staffing?
Would you layout coming in to the fire or would a second engine reverse lay for your initial water supply?
What would be your initial size-up report?
What size and length line would you stretch?
Assume or pass command?
Where would you direct the second hoseline to go?
Would your ladder company (or assigned unit) be expected to perform VEIS at this fire?

First engine upon seeing smoke or flames would lay in.
What would be your initial size-up report?
Engine 142 on location (give correct address). We have a 2 story wood frame row house in the middle of the block with heavy fire on Division 1, A side, and flames showing from the roof. Engine 142 is command.
What size and length line would you stretch?
I would have positioned the engine so I could initially do a brief deck gun attack. If that was not practical for some reason the initial line would have been a 2 1/2. Followed up by 1 3/4 inch lines for interior work. Not sure on length, most likely 300 feet to allow working line for inside the building. Might be 200 feet, hard to tell distances in the video.
Assume or pass command?
Depends on how far behind me the next rig, or the duty chief is. Most likely assume working command.
Where would you direct the second hoseline to go?
After initial knockdown 2 lines interior to kill the fire on the first floor and then advance to the second to check for extension and fire in the attic.
Would your ladder company (or assigned unit) be expected to perform VEIS at this fire?
If fire conditions allowed.
