If anyone is looking at doing firefighter training online and wants to save time and money. This leads to pro board certified training  and seems to be well below the cost of other training and can be done from the comfort of your home.

Don't you have to go somewhere for the practical aspects?

I looked at a course description on the website and it ended with:  "Students must also pass skill sheet objectives meeting the provisions of NFPA 1001 before being certified as having completed the course."

I'm still doubtful that this would thoroughly prepare a person to be a firefighter. Seeing is believing but doing is better. I would recommend augmenting this course with lots of practice with fellow trainees down at the fire hall in order to convert knowledge to skills.

Firefighter I costs nearly $600.00 with the exam, which is about half what an academy would cost. Beware: "You get what you pay for" may apply.

They don't tell you a whole lot on the website. If it's entirely internet based, I don't much like it though. How can you learn firefighting skills via internet?

My point exactly.  We have a fire college here in Brandon Manitoba that in 10 months gives you level 1 and level 2 and hazmat and your pcp plus a bunch of specialized courses for ff.  The cost, are you ready for this? ..... $23 000 not including accommodations transportation and any other associated costs.  I bloody fell over when I inquired about the diploma course.

The website was recently updated to reflect the different aspects of the training AET provides. The practical aspects are done at your local fire station with your training officer. Also, PBRTC can bring a satellite location to a location near you and offer a proctored test that meets all the requirements. This is an alternative to spending training money on per Diem, travel, and time away from your fire station. Take a look as you can save your money you are spending on training to reallocate to the necessary tools you may need that don't have.  If there is something that you would like changed AET can tailor a training program specific to your needs.
