my department does black 1010's for trained members the juniors and probies that are not trained get the turtleshell with a blue junior shield and probies get orange probie shield  until they are trained then they get a 1010

Our Juniors have yellow helmets, but we also uses a different color of striping for turnout gear to denounce a junior.
