Hello all,

I am finishing up a presentation I will be doing within a couple of months. Looking for creative training ideas some of you might have to add to my program. Thanks for your input.

The biggest deal with them is some of them go into "sleep" mode...meaning no motor is running, yet the car is active and in gear, so if you pull the driver's foot off the brake without shutting the car down it will take off on you.  It is imperative that we learn how to shut these vehicles down.

ha ha ha well i so glad that you got a good laugh out of that, i thought that

we were all brothers in the world of firefighting but i was wrong, i was bashed on the idea for the HYBRID cars now im being bashed for spelling.

ok well that's what i was trying to say but everybody thanks im nuts , but we have a cd that has a power point on it that will show us how to shut the vehicle down and take caution in the prosess.

Always be observant, it might save your life.

Select 5 intersections in your first due area.  There is most likely a store, a hotel, a shopping center or a gas station on each corner.  Select the ones that everyone in your station has been in over the last few years.  Select the store you shop in for grocieries every shift, the hunting store, the pon shop, the auto parts shop etc etc, the work out gym.....the places you shop, frequent or respond to on EMS calls.  What can you remember about them other than the good looking girl at the register ???

Can anyone on the crew remember where the closest hydrant is, the FDC, the type of construction, the roof type, is there an attic, where are the exits, is the building sprinklered, is there a basement, what about ceiling height, is there a fire wall, a fire lane, a gate, an NFPA diamond or any thing that will fall on your head?

If your crew checks the air in the basketball before they do their SCBA each morn your in trouble Captain.

What will you do when you get a fire in a building over 6 floors high and you discover that the Standpipe or fire sprinkler connections are missing, stolen or damaged. www.SpeedSwivel.com
