I think we all have a certain song, or group that we listen to when responding to a fire (yes I know the FD pagers/radios are in the background) whats your personal favorite song to get you pumped?
As soon as I get in my POV to respond to a call the radio (music-type) gets shut off so that I don't miss anything on the other radio (fire dept). Since size-up should start the minute you start responding I don't want any distractions. Plus driving in an emergency mode should take a good deal of concentration.
However, when going to training sessions I often play "Standing outside the Fire" by Garth Brooks. Awesome lyrics... Even if you are not a county fan it is worth listening to.
Also several songs from the Top Gun Soundtrack - Danger Zone, Playing with the Boys, Through the Fire and Destination Unknown...
may be a but of a old romantic.. fighting 17th from movie 'backdraft' as for mood music off duty.. from the movie always.. 'smoke gets in your eyes'.. for hip... fleetwood mac and their marching song w USC band..emsomble.. cannot remmeber title..and last the end title track to 'backdraft' as well...

Do I have to pick just one? I can't really pick a favorite song, but I find that playing music, that is supposed to "pump you up/get the adrenaline flowing," in my pov while responding to the station actually calms me. And I usually turn down the volume on my pov radio and turn up the volume on my pager.
But, as I said, I can't pick a favorite song, anything along these lines will do though when responding in my pov....
NIN, Tool, Social Distortion, Jimmy Hendrix, Dropkick Murphy's, The Cheats, Johnny Cash, Static X, Silver Sun Pickups, Mgmt, Kings of Leon, Chevelle, Cheap Trick, Lords of Acid, Bad Religion, Orgy, Combichrist, etc., etc.
I have hear Thunder Stuck by AC DC to Eastbound and Down by Jerry Reed. I sort of think of anything that sounds like traveling music. Feed Me To The Fire by Red Airkraft is an old one I remember.
I sort of also Techno music is great. I sort think even so Japanese Anime theme music is great too. I Am A Pioneer from Tenchi Muyo english verson.
I'm usually a "listen-for-information" type while responding. Although...there are situations where the opportunity comes up. Example. MVA 20 miles up the old mountain dirt raod.......long drive ahead of me and I WILL be the first on scene as I live handy the mountain road. So there's only so much info available. So...Disturbed was playing all the way up the winding dirt roads. But hey...I also would have been fine listening to Simon and Garfunkle. Very good band.
