Below is a 6 minutes vid from the "capital" of emergency management in Denmark, the DEMA Training centre in Tinglev..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViXiF4xI8L8&feature=share
You get introduced to the actual USAR training town and what other parts can be done..
As mentioned in the video, some of the exercises start in Germany, and the participants first have to get over the border with some "help" from the Danish Customs and police (Who for the exercise are VERY unfriendly)..
As mentioned in the vid, we have an entire small village build up, being able to facilitate training exercises for up to 5 days..
The town is made up of an old concept in Denmark the "standart ruin" made of brick and wood..
And the new ruins made from concrete and iron..

Amazing! There should be more centres like this around the world. Think how things could progress with facilities like this to train in and develop strategies and techniques.
Indeed it is amazing..
Actually DEMA is at the very forefront of emergency management training..
At the National Volunteer Centre where I am active, our burnhouse and flashover-simulator are both inside a huge hanger, connected to a gigantic air-purifier.
We also got one of the "standard ruins" + a huge rubble pile with underground passages + one of the new concrete structures..
- All connected by underground passages for both K9 and/or tunnelling..
If you guys would like, I can take some pictures of both the ruins and the burnhouse..
