Are you insinuating that something, no many things I have read on the internet are not completely factual and true? For God's sake Jack, I even gave references from big reliable news sources. Geez.

I am looking for something that does a better job of finger pointing (pun intended). You are not going to find anything that says that the families of the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11 CAN NOT ATTEND... I get that part.

The thing that does show up is several different sources being quoted saying that it did happen... But... this is all a big lie? If this is true, then I would be pissed off for real. Just reading your comment about my pissy tude made my day better. Thanks.

I'm still looking for something that points (pun intended) a finger... Also noting that NO ONE else is chiming in here to offer assistance. That sure is comforting. I knew trying to argue with you would result in my going down in flames...

This stinks like a gynecologist convention.

We will be here staffing our fire houses ready to respond again for whatever else happens in this city. I know FDNY and ACFD will be doing the same.

And in the end, isn't that the most appropriate way to honor them? Getting back on the rigs and doing the job they did, respond to others in need. Emergencies will not stop just because it is 9/11.
I am sitting on the left coast, with only a computer to figure out why politicians would make the call to specifically call out firefighters not to attend

It does go back to logistics, numbers, and security confined to limited space. What we pretty much are seeing is the city asking responders who didn't lose a family member from showing up due to space constarints. There were over 90,000 first responders, not just cops and firefighters and there just wouldn't be the room. The focus here is on the victims who were lost and that should be the focus.

Now, this year is the 10th anniversary so one can expect perhaps a higher turnout of family, let alone security concerns due to politicians that will be there etc. Also given the space constraints, it would be difficult to ensure space available for family if all responders were invited as well. Yes, there are many FF's and cops who lost "brothers" but there were many regular folks who lost close friends as well who probably won't be able to attend either, even if they wanted to.

In the end, that is what the FB posting and the reasoning for this thread doesn't take into consideration and something that people like the OP and a few others who responded need to consider, but didn't.

But officially, it seems appropriate to have some of the rescuers families that were lost represented as well as police, EMS and others to symbolically acknowledge their lost loved ones sacrifices. That's it.

And who is to say this isn't going to happen? I can assure you there will be first responders present, just because they did lose family, and I would venture to bet the FDNY Commissioner, Chief and NYPD chief are most likely present. The issue is about those first responders in general to be able to just show up.

Well then, there you go, because this post is suggesting just exactly that, and to THAT is what I was responding.

The thing that does show up is several different sources being quoted saying that it did happen..
Saying WHAT happened? Since the 10th anniversary hasn't happened yet, what exactly has already happened? Please be a bit more clear on what you're trying to express.

Also noting that NO ONE else is chiming in here to offer assistance. That sure is comforting. I knew trying to argue with you would result in my going down in flames...
Mike, you're a retired captain with 30+ years on the job, youre opinions in here are widely respected. I'm sure there are a LOT of people who would defend you, if only this discussion centered around what color lights/PPE/helmet etc is best. Joking of course, you're not going down in flames, this isn't a contest, just a frank discussion. Let's not read too much into this.

My problem is NOT whether FDNY is or isn't invited, my problem is that this post suggests that NO fire fighter will be allowed, that ALL firefighters killed, their families and their friends are being screwed over and, so far as I've been able to ascertain, that's a bald-faced lie. Clearly I haven't expressed it as well as I would like, so what John Crabbe said? Ditto for me.
