I am looking to relocate to Florida in the next year or so, somewhere in the Tampa, Orlando area. How is reciprocity there? Anyone know anything about the paid departments? Any help would be great!

Michael, can't tell you exactly what the state will want. Where are you coming from? I am instructor about 45 minutes South of Tampa. If I can help let me know. Look at Hillsbourgh County Fire. Great Benefits. Are you a Paramedic? So many questions. I can tell you tons about area departments. Just keep in touch and let me know what you are looking for.
Deltona FD should be looking to hire after October. We are about half way between Orlando and Daytona Beach on the east coast.

I belive that the previous post is correct about the PAT. Follow up with the website that he provided. Good luck
I am a NC Paramedic and am currently working on my NFPA FF1&2
shop around but understand in florida, state certification is the LAW! no certificate of compliance...no job, and you better think about getting EMT also. hope i didnt bust your bubble
Mike, I know it's been a few years since this post, but did you ever make it down here?

I have a similar question.

I am a current member of the county volunteer dive rescue team in Colorado, but am planning to relocate to the Daytona Beach area. As I will be relocating for school purposes; I am not looking for any kind of full-time or paid position. I was however wondering if anyone could direct me towards any volunteer organizations in the area?
Ryan,
There are a lot of departments in North Central Floridathat have volunteers. I'll send you a message.

Haven't made it down yet... Still in NC. I am however now a FF2, Hazmat Ops, Paramedic and all kinds of other fun stuff. Started working in a municipal department here and have extended my stay. I still plan to move in the next couple of years.
