ZEPHYR, N.C. (WGHP)— A truck hauling over 3,600 chickens crashed into a fire department near Elkin early Monday morning.

According to emergency officials, the truck slammed into the Mountain Park Fire Department following a two-vehicle accident on Monday, causing significant damage to the building.

The fire department is located in Mountain Park, about 10 miles north of Elkin.

The truck was hauling approximately 3,600 chickens at the time of the accident. The uninjured chickens were loaded onto a transport truck and taken from the scene.

According to Fire Chief Charles Sewell, a column and at least one fire truck was damaged in the accident.

EMS Director John Shelton said clean-up is expected to take most of the morning.

No one was seriously injured.

I've been on some mva's involving chickens and even if you know what you are doing they can be pretty foul!
I guess they felt like chicken tonight.
Maybe next time the station will have drive-thru bays.
