Like a lot of folks here on the FFN, I have made friends all over the world through the FFN. I have been in communication with a member from a middle eastern country with limited resources and access due to it's location, which is very close to some of the most dangerous geographical areas on the planet, with the exception of Japan...

I want to help this guy help his department move forward with learning more about fire suppression and tactics as well as many other topics, dependent upon the input I hope to get from others out there involved with petrochemical firefighting. Additionally, I would like to be able to suggest international training options if anyone knows about what's out there.

The below information provides a listing of what training has been provided to date. What we are looking for are other topics, classes and training direction those with experience can recommend.

• BLEVE Hazards & Control
• Firefighter PPE & Equipment
• Firefighting Strategy & Tactics
• Fixed Facility Fire Protection Systems
• High Angle Rescue
• LNG-LPG Hazards & Control
• Petrochemical Plant Firefighting Equipment
• Storage Tank Emergencies & Control

I want to thank those responding in advance for any assistance or input you can provide. At this point, the only information I have to go on is the punch list provided above. Please help me help others make a difference. It's what we are suppose to do...

Thanks Kali.

They currently have zero hazmat training and have only basic EMS; no paramedics. Getting even some local USA fire departments to think about paramedics and ALS is tough enough. I'm still going to make a push for their EMS training to be enhanced. My discussions with my new friend (from Yemen) have been brief but the firefighter is very sincere and professional in his request for assistance as well as being very well spoken.

My plan at this point is to have the folks he works with continue to monitor this forum post and if by chance they have funding for training, professionals like FETC, they will be able to contract out their services. Anyone reading this post, and who works in the Petrochemical Field providing fire protection will find the information that has already been provided very worthwhile.

I plan on sharing these identified resources, organizing information received here on this forum post that will include power point (PPT) downloads and suggested training resources.

Thank you again Kali for offering suggestions and sharing your thoughts.

Wonderful resources that if possible, would be great uploaded and shared on this forum post to facilitate others to take advantage of the lessons learned, real time examples of NIMS things and SOP's to boilerplate. We are all doing so much more with so much less... this is one way to help each other out.

Thank you Tyler for sharing these resources and bringing up the recent Miami Dade tank farm fire. I remember years ago there was also a large tank fire at the Denver airport.

As always, exceptional advise and information Jack. Gracias'

I tried a different title at first basically asking what you suggested and received no response. I was becoming immediately invisible. I hate it when that happens... Folks responding so far have been very forthcoming with sharing their insight. You might note that the people responding are the very obvious movers and shakers working with the FFN...
Exceptional Suggestions - You've obviously have tackled this type of training R&D before... Thank you for your expertice!
I will look up website resources unless you just happen to have them handy? CBz

Thanks' everyone for taking your time to offer assistance.

Geez Capt. give a guy a chance to read your post and decide what input he can have. I don't read this every day. I will get back to you on the subject.
On the issue of all the peripheral crap that this site has now, word games, helmet colors, blah, blah blah. I am tied of it as well. I came to this site for discussion of how to do my job better, I have been doing it for 36 years and have something to give as well. It seems like we have put aside most of the religious and political crap that was flying around for a while, now let us use some peer pressure to eliminate the other juvenile stuff as well. As I have said many times if you don't like it change it. If you don't want to put the work in to change it, then shut up (not directed at you CBz).
After posting my response to you yesterday, I received an email from Yemen with an email address so I was able to send out my first "training" email installment.

So... if you had the chance to help someone, what would be your first priority? I have attached what I sent out today to get the ball rolling.

The good news here is that others on the FFN, if they take the time to read posts such as this, and if they are focused on training and learning as much as they can, they just might meet with success uncommon among others.

Information is power... Sharing it is even more powerful because you can and will make a difference in someone else's life. That's why we are here. To help others.

It's nice to have a wonderful friend like yourself Kali!
