Lack of Respect Because of Your Gender?
check out my Females in the Fire service Group. I am not man bashing at all. I am just stating that i believe women that can do the job deserve equality!!! I do understand that there are women out there that cant...'cuz I have them on my department TOO, however those are the ones that give chics like me who love to get dirty and get hot ( in a fire the that is) a bad name. Tell me your thoughts.

This may upset some people but it is the truth there are men in the fire service who things women should be at home barefoot and pregnant not be fighting fires but for me some of those men are as far as i am concerned should be the ones at home barefoot and pregnant. They are the ones who scare me I have women in my own department and i only trust one because she knows what she is doing. The other women I have yet to see get dirty but what i hear they are trying and that is all that counts. This is nmot all that I have to say but I have to get to work finish later.

I agree with most of what you said. There are some good men, some that I wouldn't trust. Same holds true for women. The one thing I don't agree with is "what i hear they are trying and that is all that counts".
Let me explain. The fact that they are trying is a very good thing (man or woman). If, however, they're not able to do the job, they're worthless to me as a firefighter and as an officer. This might sound cruel, but even though this is a "brotherhood" (and in turn a "sisterhood") and I love my fellow firefighters, if there are people on the fireground who are incompetant (for whatever reason) they could get me or one of my guys killed. This is NOT acceptable. Firefighting is NOT a club - it is a war. A war against a deadly enemy.

I don't think it will make you any less of a firefighter. I think you should check with your brass before you get it... some officers are touchy about stuff like that. I mean we have hoods issued by the department, I'm the only one with a different color hood and mine is different cause it is made of the new carbon X material... My chief gave me a hard time but when I explained why it was what it was he understood why I was a different color.
As for the tie dye and other colors... I think we should be careful about what we don... I'm all for personal expression, but I don't know how someone loosing their house to the beast will feel about that expression on scene....Check with your officers... I think you are asking to be made a target with pink though...just my opinion

I know I may have upset some of the firefighters on here with my comment. O well they will get over it sooner or later. The reason i said what i said is simple if a woman can do the job leave them alone but if they can't please get them out . The men who think women should not be cops ,firefighters or soldiers are putting everyone endanger when they are on a scene that is all i was going to add.
