I am a white belt. I just started three weeks ago.

Shotokan levels are as follows:(lowest to highest)
White
Yellow
Orange
Blue
Green
Purple
Brown
Brown w/1 stripe
Black(multiple levels)

Shuri-te Karatedo is as follows;
White
Yellow
Blue and with a black stripe
Green and with a black stripe
Purples
Brown [ there are three levels total ]
*Below BB are 10 kyu ranks*
Black [ there are ten level of BB ]

I currently hold the level of Godan [ fifth degree, with 32 years of training ] ;]

I am now 8th KYU-Yellow Belt.

The levels in Shotokan are:
White
Yellow
Orange
Blue
Green
Purple
Brown
Brown with one stripe
Brown with two stripes
Black
Black w/one stripe
Black w/ two stripes

Black goes from no stripes until five stripes
