2 or 4 Door Engine

I'm a 100% believer in an engine should be a 4 door because 2 people can't do anything "safely" on a fire scene by them selves. What are your opinions on this?

Such decision depends soley on the dept and reasoning for doing so. Having a small cab typically means more compartment space for other equipment. It is possible such an apparatus to be part of a two piece type of company. Also, it depends on the dept makeup...if FF's respond to the scene or station...if to the scene, again with less crew space, this gets more equipment to the scene.

Making blanket statements like this doesn't take in consideration other options out there and can allude to an assumption other depts are not safe based solely upon the rig design they have.

We have both, when we have a wreck, we respond in our 4 door, which seats 5. If it's anything in town, we respond in the 2 door, us volunteers will respond in our own vehicles. If it's a structure, they are both there, within 3 minutes apart, so it really doesn't matter.

Our New engine which is a pumper tanker holds 3 but is a 2 door it has a jump seat that way 2 people can pack up the reason we did this was so we could have medical roll up doors on both sides of the cab.
