What kind of saw do you use??? We have several different ones -(corded and battery). The baterry never seems to last and some of the others don't have enough power. But we have found one that have power and versatility to boot.Good for tight or awkward spots. Porter-Cable makes the saw but,I got our's at Sears. I don't know if they still carry it or not. The only drawback I have w/ it is the way the blade goes in. It has a 1/4 twist lock. But other than that the saw is a great tool to have.

How often have you had to disassemble hard points during extrications?
That's probably another part to break though, right?
Corded Milwaukee.Have had it for years and have not had any problems with it.Works good with operator running the saw and another person spraying the blade with lube of some sort as you cut.Can get a long life out of a blade doing that(usually).
Dewalt Recip 24V, with A/C pack. We keep 2 batteries in the pack and one on the truck charger... you go through them quick. Expensive to replace the batteries every 3 years or so. Quick blade changes though! Didn't know Rigid had lifetime on batteries... that might be worth switching to.
We use a dewalt, but remembering it is there, and actually needing to use it doesnt come around that often. Thus we lose battery life. Todays exotic metals are making it more and more difficult to use the tool and we rely more on the jaws. But agreed its a great tool for the tool box. With the right blades, we have used it ona number of different calls. If its used once a year and it helps save a life, its the right tool for the job!
