Oops, apparently my post didn't come through. I will try this again. I have been a member of the Youth Programs Committee for the Ohio State Firefighters Association for the past 8 years, and have been fortunate to meet many great people across this country dedicated to the educating the next generation of Fire and EMS personnel. One of my duties on this committee is to serve as the Curriculum Director for the Ohio Youth Fire and EMS Training Academy that is held at Hocking College each summer for a week. In that week we provide a week long experience in laying the foundation of knowledge for the explorer's who intend on getting into the profession. We have had explorers from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and New Jersey come to our camp. I am curious to know if there are other programs like this nationwide that I could compare notes with or look for other ideas on things to include in our curriculum. Any response would be great, and if you have an interest in our program here is the web page. www.ohioyouthfire.org
I know the National Fire Academy has held a fire explorers weekend before and the boy scouts themselves put one on I believe in a different part of the country every year.
Sparky,
Many of the Boy Scout programs are more like musters or competitions that I have seen. I only know of the WV and ours that do it as a week long academy style program. Thanks you sir.
