It's not uncommon to see American flags on fire apparatus.

On uniforms...

or even stickers, patches and badges.

Question 1 • Is the USA flag something that your department includes on your uniform and/or fire apparatus?

Question 2 • If you are not from the USA, does your department displays their countries flags the same as we do in the USA?

good to know, but still, no emblems, logos, nothing, just a name tag? pretty simplistic, but then again, maybe that's the aussie way?
beautiful graphics Ron!
recently, while doing a cool adventure rescuing an abandoned telescope dome from the a remote part of Arizona, an older man who volunteered at the museum was putting up the flag. All eight of my crew stopped what they were doing and put their hands over their hearts as the flag was raised... these are special times.
this was my hunch all along. how cool to share your countries pride on your uniform, regardless of your country. more proof that we are all so much the same...

I'm all for patriotism- we don't have or show enough of it. I'm just not sold on the flag on the uniform though.

I mean, we respond in our area, can supprot others in the State or around the Country, but we're still in Australia- do we need a flag on the uniform to confirm this? I don't beleive so and probably don't see a valid reason to do it.

I'd be curious as to why people are so keen on it????
Nice! It's a shame more people don't do that these days.
We don't wear a flag on our uniforms or turnout gear - we don't want to disrespect it by getting it dirty.

We do have flag decals on our rigs, but they are easy to keep clean and don't get all ratty and stained like an actual flag does.

I bet if you look closer, you will see an American flag...
I suspect that if wall street bankers all took to wearing a flag on the sleeve of their jackets many people would somehow find that offensive, or hypocritical. Because as we all know, ONLY firemen, cops and solders are patriotic.

Discuss.
and now it turns into a debate. thanks.
No, but we have union stickers on the rigs and union patches on our uniforms!
Ohhhhhhhh.....a debate, rather than a synchronized nodding of heads. Yeah, that might be detrimental; people with varying opinions and ideas.
