CHERRY TREE, Pa. - State police say two volunteer firefighters have been flown to hospitals in critical condition after crashing their car on the way to a blaze in central Pennsylvania.

State police in Indiana, Pa. indentified the victims as Michael Keith and Crystal Keith, of Cherry Tree. That's about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Police haven't said how or whether they are related, but say both are members of the Cherry Tree Volunteer Fire Department. Police say they crashed into a utility pole and the wreckage was spotted by their chief, who was on the way to the same fire shortly after 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the victims are in critical condition, but hospitals in Johnstown and Altoona were not immediately able to confirm that Monday.
