Are you stuck on going to Maryland. I can get you all kinds of ideas and areas to hunt in West Virginia.
No, I'm not stuck at all. I just started looking around for ideas online and Maryland stood out for several reasons. I'm open to any suggestions. How is the deer hunting in West Virgina? Thanks in advance for the help!
Keith, Ive never hunted in Maryland, if you want to whitetail, bear or turkey hunt West Virginia is the place to do that, in the east. I dont know if you archery, gun or blackpowder. I can help you find places to hunt, its getting late in the season here. Blackpowder goes out Sat. and then we have a late antlerless season the last 3 days of the year. You may want to plan a spring gobbler hunt here to get familiar with are if your interested let me know. By the way, where are you from? Are you career or volunteer and how long have you been in the fire service? Also, if you want to look at the area, I live in Buckhannon WV which is in Upshur County, I have a 75 acre farm in Braxton County which is 1 mile from 14000 acres of public land called the Burnsville Wildlife management area.
Hello,

I hunt with any and all weapons. I'm actually starting my plans now for a hunt next year for whitetails. I'm from Methuen Massachusetts and I've been a FF/EMT (career) since 1997. Thanks for the info, I'll take a look online when I get a chance.

Our Archery season starts in mid Oct. and runs till the end of Dec. Our rifle buck season runs the week of thanksgiving and the week after, during that week you can take up to 2 bucks and a doe depending on what license you purchase. Our archery season you can take up to 3 which one of the 3 has to be a doe. I hunt with a group of policeman and fireman. Ive been a firefighter/emt for 20 yrs. Im know a captain with the city of Buckhannon which we are a combination department, Im on the career side. If your interested Ill give you the coordinates so you can look at the area on google earth. Right know its 8 degrees with about a foot of snow on the ground.

Have you tried North Carolina.   Check out Lilly pond creek lodge in Jackson NC. It's in North Hampton county. The largest deer producing county in NC,  5 deer limit for week.  The lodge is great and the food is fantastic.  Have been hunting there for 15 years.  I'm a 32 yr career firefighter from NJ.  He's not just the owner but he becomes a great friend.     Steve
