Hi all. I wanted to let you know about a show I have been developing over the last year about Volunteer FF and EMS. We have several networks that are interested in the show, and are in the pitch/pre-production phase of development.
You can see our concept videos and follow our progress on Facebook We also have several of our concept videos on YouTube:
Your feedback is important to us. We want to make a show that all volunteers can be proud of, as well as entertain and educate the public about what we do.
Thanks and be safe!
Travis
==== Benjamin Franklin created the first volunteer fire department in the US
in 1736. Today, 73% (827,150+) of firefighters in the US are members of
volunteer fire departments. The series is footage taken from real
emergency responses, and
interviews of the volunteers involved. Through a combination of amazing
response footage and interviews, we want to educate and entertain you
with this amazing story.
When
I first met the volunteers, the fact that I had no idea they sacrificed
so much of there time to save lives, for no pay, and not even a thank
you, was shocking. My ignorance about the volunteer fire and rescue
station, just down the street from my house, made me wonder how many
others in my community, and around the world, do not know about the
amazing people.
It was not until I began to document them, and
interact with them, did I come to understand one of Americas richest
and most dangerous traditions.
I was filming an auto accident
one day and saw something that changed my life. I saw a group of
volunteers remove a woman who was bleeding to death from a car she was
trapped in, and saved her life. That was the moment I wanted to put the
camera down and do something to help. That was the moment I knew I was
ready to make the same sacrifices, to commit hundreds of hours to
training, and to stand ready when my community needs me. I was ready to
leave my wife and kids at the dinner table, or in the dead of night, or
during birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas...to go save someone I have
never met.
That moment changed my life forever. That was the moment I became a volunteer.
I
believe in these people so much, I made it my personal goal to make
sure the world hears our story. To educate the public so that people
who were like me will have a better understanding of what these amazing
people from all walks of life are willing to do for them.
From understanding more about the volunteer system in America, my hope
is that you will be compelled to do your part. My goal is to see
communities in the US and around the world support the volunteers
before they have to dial 911. Whether its a donation, joining the
department as an administrative member or just simply saying thank you,
your support will help the volunteers be prepared to help you when the
time comes. Whether you contribute or not, we will be ready to help
you, your friends and your families, when they are in there darkest
hours.
The
volunteers need your support. Yes, they need donations, and yes they
need more members to survive. More importantly, they need to be
recognized for there courage, bravery and sacrifice.
HEY TRAVIS!!! THATS AWESOME WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR THE VOLLIES . VOLLIES DONT GET ENOUGH CREDIT FOR WHAT THEY DO . THE THING IS LOVING WHAT YOU DO TO THE EXTREME WITHOUT LIMITS
Your "credit" is exactly the thing that volunteers leave behind when they become volunteers. Although it's the same job Careers and Vollies have entirely different motives for joining. A motive that should never be a Vollie's is to gain any more credit/thanks, than a pat on the back.
I would like to see this, there aren't enough shows or movies about firefighters of any kind.
Hey all, I have a new video available on Facebook. Please share this and don't be shy about commenting. All we ask in return for our hard work to bring the show to the world, is that you all enjoy it, and click your "Like" button and comment, so we can show the networks that you guys are behind us! Thanks and enjoy!
I finally completed the first episode to share with the networks for our upcoming pitch meetings. The full episode will not be available until the networks make a decision one way or the other (keep your fingers crossed).
This is the last few minutes after the episode concludes. A little more behind the scenes stuff. You also will see a little throw back footage from the first episode, mainly he part that pissed so many people of about Firefighters running lol. I could not resist.
I will release the full episode when I can, free of charge. You all have been very patient and I appreciate all the support from all over the world. Thanks! Enjoy it, share it and be safe!
