I'm thinking about doing a Day in the life drill with the Explorers so they can get a feel for the job, but i need some help thinking of "calls" they can go on. They are capable of Fire, some rescue*, and Basic EMS. *By Rescue I mean Low-angle, MVC (with minor extrication). Any Ideas will be welcomed even if it isnt listed up here.

Are your a paid department because i have this idea: for a day a select few and few advisers do a 24hour tour during that tour have them do normal house duties and throw in a few calls. The calls like basic ems have like a chest pain call, fall victim or something that they 1. have to get vitals, 2. package up, 3. shows them how to treat pts. then have time to do some work around the sta, a small drill then have a basic mva (fender bender or something with fluids but no "full extrication" just a simple back boarding. have another call that involves basic knots. And then have them dose off and in the middle of the night have a "fire" where the one team does a search and the one team has a nozzle in a smoke house or just black out room. Also get them tired by doing some pt during the day.
I'm not in a paid Department, but thats what i want it to feel like.
Thanks for posting this. We don't call them Explorers, but Cadets (same thing different name!). I'm the Cadet Program Officer and at this time we only have 1 cadet which happens to be my daughter. The biggest issue we have is recruiting Cadets. Training for our Cadets is included with our department trainings. We do trainings that include: nozzle operations, heliocopter loads, MVA with and without extrication, wildland fires, structure fires, downed aircraft, search and rescue, and all types of medical calls. We are a volunteer department with about 20 personnel.
