Betty Egan of the (1970's) Tesuque Fire Department, I am told by her family, was the first female Fire Chief in the USA. I'd like to do some research on this. I am curious about the war years when women took on so many of the traditionally male roles. i was told she was listed in the Guinnes Book of Records but I can't find any reference to female Fire Chiefs there. Any ideas where else to look?
