Last year we had 271 calls, I responded to 189 of them. So far this year we are at 168 & I'm at 103. For the past several years I have held the title of Top Responder.
My department responded to about 29,000 911 calls. My Engine is the busiest in the city/county and we had 3,508 last year. Our department had 4 engines (we have 13) with over 3,000 calls. Our Ladders ran about, L1 1900, L2 2700 and L4 2100. We had about 250 working fires in the city. 3500 keeps you out of trouble but hurts training time, but the day goes by fast.
At my firehouse we respond to approx 8000 calls per year. We have 3 apparatus at the station, Medic 31 goes on about 3200 calls, Engine 31 goes on about 3200 calls and Ladder 5 goes on another 1600 calls per year. Those are rough estimates....but fairly accurate.
In my fire department, we are asked daily to gas locks, door openings with no victim and victim, have an average of 2 / 3 urban fires per week, the level of trapped about 2 per week, but I have to say that this number has reduced substantially since it was built a highway that crosses my county, in the Algarve we have a national highway, which is called EN 125, which is one of the most dangerous in Europe, EN 125 all across the Algarve, and number of accidents increases during the summer, as the Algarve is a tourist area, the level of medical emergency we have an average of 8 / 10 at 12 hours, I myself have had to perform 14 at one night. The hospital is located in Faro, and the distances are not very long. Also in summer we have several wildfires
We do citywide 130,000 calls a year, average is 350 calls a day, my station downtown runs 15 times a day average. 70% call are EMS.
Stay safe out there !!!
