midship or end ladder/platform
After looking at pictures of platform trucks I have wondered how it is to drive a engine/truck/ladder with the platform hanging in front of the windshield. We purchased a 50ft tele-squirt a couple years back and the only thing we have to worry about is, weather or not we have it backed far enough into the engine bay for the door to close. I figure having a platform in front of the windshield the driver has to stop further back at a stop sign or stoplight then ease up to be able to see the traffic coming from the other directions before continuing in the direction the driver wants to go. I am talking both to and from the station.

Driving a truck with the platform over the cab is a little different, but really isn't bad. Like any rig, you train with it and you get used to how to drive, bottom line is to drive with Due Regard.
There are a few harry situations though like turning a corner with a bus or truck at the intersection, sometimes you just have to signal someone to move, etc. Seeing ahead of you really isn't too bad at all, like I said, you get used to it, just leave enough space between you and the next vehicle.
