Australian Firefighter looking for U.S. position
G'day from South Australia! My name is Robbie Kay, and i've been in the South Australian Country Fire Service for nearly a decade. I am 22 years old, 23 in August and im looking for a firefighting position in the US, preferably in the Florida area, but im not picky!.
At present, I am a volunteer firefighter with big dreams and ambitions for a career in firefighting. I would love to come to America and bring my extensive training and experience in bush/wild fires, structure fires, hazardous materials, logistics, incident management, training and other skills with me. I am willing to undertake any necisarry requirements/prerequistes needed of me. My major areas of expertese are particularly in bush/wildfire suppression, as well as structural fire suppression/compartment fire behaviour and hazardous materials. I would really enjoy undertaking new rolls in management or training. If anyone has advice, or even a vacant position, please contact me or leave a comment here! Thank you all! Robbie

I'm from Florida, but moved out 3 years ago. We got A LOT of wild fires every year. From what I remember, 2006 or 2007 were some of the worst fire years ever. But if you want big, big wild land fires, go west to California. They get massive wild fires. Good luck on your path to moving to America and stay safe.

Well Robbie my boy...get in line....there a shit load of young men and women that are looking for the same thing...not sure of residency requirements but the western (and a few eastern) states have very good wildland teams...I am positive you would have to start from scratch, earn your RED CARD and then apply from there....Missoula has the Smokejumpers (probably the best and craziest bunch of bastards I have ever met)they deploy by parachute into fires....yes, you heard right. Hey thanks for your advice and help guys! Ive heard of these smoke jumpers before, actually i think ive even seen a movie about them! California would be great. Im not overly fussed about the location anymore. Florida was mostly because i had a friend there who has now moved to Pittsburgh i think. Thanks again, i'll keep looking!
