BOLING-IAGO, Texas (AP) -- A volunteer firefighter's body has been found in the charred ruins of a southeast Texas egg plant.

The first report of the fire came in about 9:30 p.m. Saturday from the Maxim Production Co. just outside Boling-Iago, about 50 miles southwest of Houston. About 15 minutes later, three firefighters reported that they'd become trapped by falling debris in the burning 25,000-square-foot production building. Just two of the three were rescued.

Fire officials identified the dead firefighter as 30-year-old Capt. Thomas Araguz III. Deputy State Fire Marshal Jay Evans says Araguz was a married father of two children and an 11-year veteran of the Wharton Volunteer Fire Department, one of 31 departments that fought the blaze.

Evans says the fire destroyed the production building and main office, but the brood house loaded with laying hens was saved.

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TO OUR FALLEN BROTHER AND YOUR FAMILY AS WELL AS THE DEPT
Terrible news. Our hearts go out to Araguz' family and the Wharton FD. May he rest in peace.
Thoughts and prayers to our brothers and sisters and the family
This is the worst fire that wharton county has seen in over 60 years. I was there from 2:30am - 12:30pm and it was very hectic until daylight when the crew found his body.Once they found his body it turned into just dumping water on the building there were aprox. 40 tankers shuttling water from boling to the scene (about 3 miles each way) all night and the following morning until about 11:30 - 12:00 for two ladder trucks and about 6 - 10 engines/pumpers with hand lines. Two other firefighters that were inside with Captain Araguz were life flighted to houston hospitals and released later that day.
Our thoughts and prayers to his family, friends and firefighters from Warton and surrounding communities. RIP
Stay strong Wharton Fire, your brother passing is horrible news.

Captain Thomas Araguz III was a dear friend. We were partners in athe fire academy and as a class of only 11 graduating members I'm sure you can imagine how close of a family we all became. Thomas was the true definition of a HERO, he always put everyone else before himself and truly loved the fire service. He will be greatly missed. RIP Thomas and relax in Heaven, we will continue your work down here brother......
