WASHINGTON - A former D.C. firefighter cadet and her boyfriend have been sentenced for shooting the woman's former boyfriend in 2007.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Dominique Taylor was a cadet at the D.C. fire academy when she helped cover up the shooting. In March 2007, her boyfriend, 28-year-old Frank Johnson shot the father of her 10-month-old child.
Judge Robert Richter sentenced Johnson to 15 years in prison for assault and other charges. Taylor was sentenced to four months for perjury and obstruction of justice.
Prosecutors say Johnson shot the man in the back, taunted him and shot him again in the arm. When police arrived, they found Taylor outside in her D.C. fire department uniform, but she was not helping the victim.
Prosecutors say Taylor was fired after her February conviction.

Many paid, big city departments like D.C. (and Philly) have no problem hiring dregs of society - as long as they get the right "representatives". It's scandalous.
Very true. I have friends who work for DCFD and they will tell you the city hires it's residence, who happen to be minorities to have an equal make up in the ranks. Many things are overlooked in the hiring process to make it happen.
And people wonder why DCFD has so many problems when it comes to EMS. That in itself is worth another thread.
