Mississippi Awarded Grant for Statewide Smoke Detector Distribution
JACKSON, Miss. - Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney says Mississippi has received a $1 million grant to distribute and install smoke detectors in homes in the state.
Chaney says so far this year, the State Fire Marshal's Office has investigated 29 fire deaths. Of those, he says investigators found only one home with a working smoke alarm. Three homes had smoke alarms that didn't work. The remainder had no smoke alarms at all.
Chaney says the grant is the second the Fire Marshal's Office has received.
He says the first was in 2008 and the program purchased 32,000 alarms with that grant.

Don't forget that ACORN received a half mil for smoke detectors in Louisiana also.
Got their money through AFG.
Since they are closing, I wonder if they have to give the money back.
Hmmmm.

Thats GREAT! I think the government should fund the nation with smoke detectors. Just my opinion......
