Two North Carolina Firefighters Killed Returning from Training Weekend

Two Blowing Rock, NC firefighters died in a two-vehicle traffic collision Sunday afternoon on Hwy 221 in McDowell County. Jeremy and Tommy were two firefighters of the Blowing Rock Fire & Rescue who this weekend attended the McDowell Fire & Rescue College to further their firefighting skills necessary to serve the community here in Watauga County.

Jeremy Bolick, 23 a resident of Blowing Rock, joined Blowing Rock Fire& Rescue in October of 2007 and was working on his Firefighter 1 certification.

Tommy Wright, 20, of Blowing Rock, joined Blowing Rock fire & Rescue in September of 2009 and also was earning his Firefighter 1 certification.

The details regarding the motor vehicle crash are under investigation by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. As always our sincere condolences to all affected.
