New York Firefighter Convicted of Murder, Arson
MINEOLA, N.Y. - A volunteer New York firefighter has been subdued after trying to bolt from the courtroom upon his murder conviction for setting a fire that killed four members of a family.
The verdicts against Caleb Lacy were reached Friday, the first anniversary of the Long Island blaze. He was also convicted of manslaughter, arson and reckless endangerment.
After hearing the verdicts, Lacey shook his head, turned from the judge and appeared to try an escape. He was subdued almost immediately by at least a dozen court officers.
The fire in a coin-operated laundry in Lawrence, New York, spread to apartments above. It killed 46-year-old Morena Vanegas and three of her children, ages 9, 13 and 19.

Sorry Chris but NOT all the bad apples are vollies....I am a Vollie and I don't think the title "Firefighter" should have been used at all...and No Sir, we don't think that just because it stated a "New York Firefighter" that it was someone from FDNY...That's the problem we have here in NY...No-one (not even our elected officials) seems to know that there is a heck of a lot more in NY than just the Big (rotten) Apple.....I think they should fry the asshole....he doesn't deserve any better.......Paul

Kind of fits doesn't it....? Spectacular headlines sell papers, and that's all they care about....that's why I love to redirect the press when they show up on scene....Paul

Wouldn't it of been a little easier if the title read "Arsonist Convicted of Murder." But if it did then it probably would of been "buried" in the paper between two other articles and under neath a half page add. If there is one thing I have learned about the press, "If it Bleeds, It Leads."
