They look smart Lutan.
In the U.S. we use a modified version of the St. Florian Cross. The Original St. Florian Cross is also the Cross of the Knights Hospitaller and the National Cross of Malta; most American fire Services do not use the Original Maltese Cross, just the modified Maltese Cross. The Original Maltese Cross is made up of four V-shaped arms forming the cruciform.

I'm not sure what a "Fire Service Star" is, if you have a picture of it, I'd love to see it. I am familiar with the Star of Life, which is the universal symbol of Emergency Medical Services; much more universally adopted than our St. Florian Cross for the Fire Service, which is pretty much only used by the American Fire Service. Most countries have their own symbols for the Fire Service, for example in many countries a Lion is the symbol for the Fire Service.

I like Weston Signs products.

Thanks guys- really happy with them. They're a bit big to fit on our Petzl Vertex Vent helmets, but on these Pacific helmets, they fit perfectly. I'm a definite advocate for Weston Signs. (Someone else here put me onto them when I was originally asking where peopel get theirs from). the front logo is done locally, but the arcs on the side are Weston.

I'm not a big fan of helmet stickers that are not related to the department. Things like humour, etc, to me have no place on official uniforms.
Ha HA thats a good , everyone talking thier bull this year and for a change its being ecepted by us heels fans but next year well be back to domination..... lol yeah the games cocks are not too bad this year...
why would you hate to be called volunteer aint that what you did it for to begin with ????? just casue you geta per call stippend dose not mean you are part time. hell i been doing it 98 100% volunteer then when i got here to Columbia i though it was the same way til they gave me the check. I told them i didnt really want it and hell i dont write half my calls in the log book casue of it so yeah im VOLUNTEER and damn proud of it and to be call my self a VOLUNTEER...... lets go back to the meaning of it not for the pay for the satisfaction to help others in thier time of need..... thanks guys
you know i see alot of the negatives that persons are posting on here about this, to be honest with ya'll its a deffinition of your character showing the type of person you are with you helmet stickers and what not its a traditional thing if you really look at it so dont knock it if you dont like it, really really thnk about it some stickers to some persona are thier lucky charm type deal if you will, and its like the ones of us with tattoos and when others dont have them they automatically think we are wierd or disgruntled and mad hate ourselfs and dont like us judge b4 you know as normal its just todays society.
I found this interesting description of the Star of Life:

The Star of Life is a cross symbol used by the emergency medical services. It is commonly seen on ambulances and paramedic badges.

It is usually blue and features the familiar medical symbol in the centre; the Rod of Asclepius. (This was originally a pagan symbol but later adopted by Judaism, Christianity and Islam. See Serpent Cross.) The six arms of the Star of Life represent some of the aspects of emergency medical care:

* Detection of the problem
* Reporting to the appropriate professionals
* Response with first aid
* On scene care until transportation is available to take the victim to a place with better facilities
* Care in transit continuing the first aid treatment
* Transfer to definitive care handing over responsibility

The symbol was designed in 1973 by Leo R Schwartz, EMS Branch Chief at the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in response to concern that the Red Cross emblem was being mis-used by Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The symbol was trademarked by the NHTSA in 1977 for 20 years.

Fascinating Greenman - sent me off searching of course :-)
The 'Fire Service Star'? It's the one shown here on my soft cap badge:

If interested, you can read the description at http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/about/firestar.htm You may even see other stuff of interest, it's my FRS public site.

We have a metal version for our dress uniform caps. Unfortunately the organisation 'modernised' some years ago and gave us a horrible logo for all our gear and trucks etc. It looks like a small version of the Croasion flag - so we call it the Croasion Football Association emblem.

The only ambulances over here that display the Star of Life are the private ones, patient transport not emergency. Most of our States use the St John Ambulance Service, so they use the Maltese Cross shown below in Jeff's post (this is the cross I refer to). One State, Tasmania, has the 'Asclepius Staff' on it's emblem while ours, Ambulance Victoria, while not St John do use the simple cross version of that organisation:

I must point out my earlier error. The National Flag of Malta does NOT show the cross I mentioned, it of course shows the George Cross. When I'm wrong, I'm always prepared to admit it !
