BUCKEYE, Ariz. - Authorities say a Buckeye firefighter who was working to put out a trailer fire has been hospitalized with serious burns but is expected to make a full recovery.
Buckeye Fire Chief Bob Costello says 26-year-old firefighter Marcus Haynes was searching for possible occupants in a large travel trailer at midmorning Wednesday when flames flashed over him and he was burned.
Haynes was transported to the burn unit at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix and authorities say he suffered second-degree burns on his hands and one arm.
Haynes has been a firefighter for three years.
There were no other injuries. The fire destroyed the trailer, and its cause is under investigation.

thank god that firefighter is ok. my prayers are with him and his family for a quick recovery. Also i have to thank god for the effectivness of our gear. it truely is a blessing.
Thank God he's going to be ok!!My prayer's go out to him and his family!!!Yes it's a good thing he was fully protected with all his gear put on properly or we all know what that would had ment????
Great story that emphasizes how important it is to have your gear properly and completely donned on each and every call like this! His gear definitely did its job. But most importantly, FF Haynes will be able to return home to his family in short order.
Glad to hear this brave brother fire fighter is ok. And without a doubt his gear DID save his life today; but is our gear getting too good? What I mean to say is, does it give us too much confidence, so that we get ourselves into situations that perhaps we shouldn't? Do we trust in our gear so much that we ignore conditions that may result in incidents just like this? Just a thought.
Once again, Glad to hear that this brave young man is alive and well. May God bless him and his family. And may God bless us all and keep us safe.
And "they" say we spend 90% of the time sleeping and washing trucks. Well, this is the remaining percentage. How do you feel now mr. and mrs."they"?
Wishing for a quick recovery. Another one who gets to go home. Thank all that is holy for the gear we have and the training to use it.
Thankfully he survived. Was his partner ok as well ? or don't you guys have a minimum of 2 BA ( scba ) wearers at all times ?, also just goes to show how important it is to know your signs of backdraught and flashover.
