some vol.fire depts could use some of the stimulus money there giving out. just like polk co.fire dept.stations 2.9.5 needs new trucks but the co will not buy them they rather give all the money to the co.sheriffs dept instead in the emount of $4,000,000. and only $259,000 to all 9 firedepts. i mean we put our lives on the line every day for free and what does polk co. give us nothing not even a good job, keep up the good work, u can forget hand shakes
So what does the county giving more to the sheriff's dept have to do with the commander in chief? The problem doesn't appear to be the funding, the problem lies in the distribution.
LOL...station 5 IS getting a truck...they just had to total theirs first! We could use new trucks too...ESPECIALLY a service truck that would actually start every time! Dang, we still have 1978 hunk 'o smokin junk taking up space in our bay! And in our territory, what we REALLY need is something with 4 wheel drive so we don't have to call the city for mutual aid so much (to use their side by side).
A few years back the people of the State of Ca. voted to tax ourselves to additionally fund public safety. A very noble thought indeed. But, we can't throw out the bums (vote out of office) those that control that money. Supervisors here send nearly every dollar to the SO, the DA and, get this, the Probation Dept. Public safety my ...
Until such time as the fire service can gain the political clout needed, we will always be the step child lucky to even get hand-me-downs.
i dont mean to get off subject but in the past the depressions have happened and stimulus packages have not worked but the things that pulled out the depressions wernt printing money to create jobs it was things like deporting illegal immegrants and tax credits for employers
Seen that out there too Ralph. The issue is though that some people may be collecting MORE in unemployment than what the potential employer iswilling to pay. Not saying that is right, but if I wasn't working, why would I want to take a job for lower money than I am already receiving? Meanwhile I can soak up as much as I can on unemployment and THEN take that lower paying job once the well dries up. My guess is there are many on unemployment right now with the same type of thoughts.
