Interesting comment to say the least.
I think part of his problem is that he isn't educated enough and that's where we as fire departments have some what failed to do better. Market exactly what it is we do. Maybe that's something to consider in the future? Marketing your department a bit more and get 'out there' more frequently than just for emergencies.
And trust me, I'm not saying all of that because my department is experts at it - just the opposite actually. But I'm on this kick as of late to try and start using business mentality marketing to build the brand of our department a bit better. Will be interesting to see how it all pans out and is received....
