Harassment Allegations inside Houston Firehouse
(AP) HOUSTON - Houston's office of inspector general is investigating the discovery of racist graffiti at a city fire station.
Executive Assistant Chief Rick Flanagan said two female firefighters found the graffiti as they reported for work early Tuesday at Intercontinental Airport's Fire Station 54. The graffiti was on the door of the female quarters, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The City Council recently earmarked $60,000 for firefighter sensitivity training after a noose-like knot was found in the locker of a veteran captain. The captain told city officials the rope was a fisherman's knot he kept in honor of the firefighter who taught him to tie it.
Fire Capt. Otis Jordan, president of the Houston Black Firefighters Association, said one of the women who found the graffiti had complained recently about vandalism in the women's quarters.

Can't we all just get along? It's 2009 for Christ's sake!
And what's the deal with a "Black Firefighter's Association"? If there was a "White Firefighter's Association", that would be considered racist! Can't we all just be firefighters, without having to be labeled by race? Stay safe people!
