Here is an innovative solution in a department lacking enough reserve apparatus to replace front-line pieces that are out of service for repairs.

"They’re red, they have ladders and can carry up to four firefighters, but they sure don’t look anything like fire trucks.

"That’s because they’re not.

They’re pickup trucks filling gaps in the Buffalo Fire Department’s aging fleet of vehicles when standard trucks are out of commission. "

ya, that won"t work where i come from... that is a brush truck just carring some space ladder.. my department has 2 reserve trucks at all time and a space als ambulance. we are pretty lucky too have what we have. we cover over 82 square miles, from highway too major railways and thousands of rural camping grounds and forest area. but ya your departmenrt always should have a spare pumper at least not a damn pickup truck.
The city has been too busy trying to rebuild a historic slip on the waterfront, dilly dallying (10 yrs) with the take down of the Aud and trying to (still) lure a Bass Pro.
